Body Found in Trunk of Car Was Army Vet

The dead body of a man was discovered in the trunk of a car that police pursued across state lines over the weekend.

On Sunday, shortly before 1 a.m., Trenton Police Detectives saw a silver Mitsubishi, a gray Buick and a white minivan driving at a high speed near Anderson Street and Hamilton Avenue.

When the detectives tried to pull them over, the cars continued to speed off, leading to a chase along Route 1 southbound toward Pennsylvania.

Authorities eventually were able to stop the gray Buick on Route 1 near the Oxford Valley exit.

Police say that the Buick's driver, Phobus Sullivan, 27, of Trenton fled the scene on foot before being caught by Detective Elizer Ramos.

The passenger of the vehicle, 25-year-old Mack Edwards of Trenton, was taken into custody.

After making the arrests, police then found a lifeless body inside the trunk of the car.  The victim was later identified as 33-year-old Dardar Paye of Maplewood, N.J. Investigators say the Army vet died of an apparent gunshot wound.

Police also were able to arrest the driver and passenger of the white minivan. The two were identified as 23-year-old Danuweli Keller and 22-year-old Abdutawab Kiazolu, both of Trenton.

Police say that the third vehicle, the silver Mitsubishi, exited Route 1 at Route 13 and was able to escape.

All four suspects are lodged in Pennsylvania and are awaiting extradition in New Jersey. None of them have been formally charged with homicide at this time.
