Report: Philadelphia Had the Highest Wage Growth Out of Top U.S. Cities

Philadelphia saw the highest wage growth out of some of the largest cities in the United States in the last year, according to Glassdoor’s annual Local Pay Reports.

Since July 2017, the U.S. had 2.2 percent pay growth, the fastest Glassdoor has seen in more than a year. Philadelphia had the highest wage growth of 10 cities at 2.8 percent over the last year.

Glassdoor attributed Philadelphia’s wage growth to a rise in senior-level hiring in the health care industry, causing the uptick in average pay. Large demand for health care workers has also pushed companies to hire more employees, especially as baby boomers age and require more health care.
