Feds Say Former City Official Defrauded Mental Health Clinic

The board president of a Philadelphia mental health clinic was charged Wednesday with defrauding and stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the facility.

The U.S. Attorney’s office charged Renee Tartaglione, 60, of Philadelphia, with conspiracy, fraud and theft involving a Juniata Community Mental Health Clinic, nonprofit clinic which provides mental health services to Medicaid patients.

Efforts to reach Tartaglione, who is a former deputy city commissioner, were not successful.

The indictment alleges Tartaglione, while serving as president of JCMHC’s Board of Directors between 2007 and 2015, misappropriated funds of the clinic “through a series of actions designed to benefit Tartaglione at the expense of the clinic."
