PA Wine Lovers, Rejoice: New Place to Buy!

Delaware County wine drinkers will have a new place to buy their favorite beverage. A wine-vending kiosk will open Saturday at a Fresh Grocer supermarket in Drexel Hill.

It’s the first of its kind in the Philadelphia region. There are two others in supermarkets near Harrisburg.

The Liquor Control Board plans to have the kiosks at 100 locations across state.

Here’s how it works. Customers insert their identification into the machine and a state worker matches the I.D. with a video image taken of the buyer.

The kiosks also have a built-in Breathalyzer. Sales are denied to anyone with a level of .02 or higher. The state’s legal limit for driving is .08.
