A Pennsylvania state senator is suing the NCAA in Commonwealth Court over its use of the $60 million fine that Penn State is paying for its handling of the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.
Sen. Jake Corman sued the NCAA Friday, saying his goal is "to ensure that Pennsylvania funds are appropriately and lawfully spent for commonwealth purposes."
The latest legal action comes two days after Gov. Tom Corbett filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA over the sanctions.
Corman is a Republican who represents State College, home to Penn State's main campus. He's chairman of the Appropriations Committee, which directs state budget spending.
His lawsuit says the state gives Penn State so much money every year that "it would be impossible for the payments to be derived solely from non-commonwealth funds."
An NCAA spokeswoman offered no immediate comment late Friday.
Sandusky was convicted in June of sexual abuse of children.
