Robber Shoots Man in Head

A gunman opened fire on a group of friends overnight during a robbery attempt.

Four friends were walking along the 6000 block of N Front Street in the Olney section of Philadelphia, Pa. around 11:30 p.m. when two masked men approached them and demanded money, according to Philadelphia Police.

During the robbery one of the masked men opened fire, striking Carlos Galloza, 42, in the head. He died a short time later at Einstein Hospital.

The masked me then ran off up Front Street.

“They’re described as two males wearing dark hooded sweatshirts pulled over the heads and faces,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

None of the other victims were injured, according to police.

Investigators hoped surveillance video from nearby Finletter Elementary School could help the investigation, Small said.
