Del. Officials Give the Go Ahead for Roadside Campaign Signs

Motorists be warned: It's campaign season.
 
Delaware transportation officials have given the green light to candidates to start placing campaign signs on state-owned rights of way.
 
Roadside signs on state-owned strips of land usually are prohibited, but the law allows political signs 30 days prior to an election and 30 days after.
 
With this year's primary elections on Sept. 9, candidates were authorized to begin installing signs this past weekend.
 
Officials advise candidates that signs are not allowed in medians or on utility poles, and can be no closer than 10 feet from the road. Signs also are prohibited in the triangular strips of land between roads and access ramps.
 
Official discourage candidates from putting signs along interstate highways and State Route 1 because stopping on limited-access highways is prohibited.
