Officer Steals From Woman in Custody: Cops

A Philadelphia Police Officer was arrested for allegedly stealing money from a woman in custody.

Philadelphia Police announced the arrest of one of their own.

On August 30, 2011, investigators say Officer Susan Bannon stole money from a woman who was in temporary police custody. They also say Bannon was on-duty at the time of the theft.

After a lengthy investigation by the Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Bannon was arrested on Thursday. She is charged with theft and other related offenses.

Bannon, 45, is a 6-year veteran of the Department, assigned to the 25th District. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey suspended her for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
