Authorities in central Pennsylvania have released the name of a man shot and killed by a police officer during a confrontation inside a home over the weekend.
The (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reports that Lancaster County officials on Sunday identified the man as 22-year-old David Giliberti.
Police in Lititz said an officer responded at about 3 a.m. Saturday to a reported dispute between and a woman and her grandson.
Police said said Giliberti reached for an officer's holstered gun and continued making threats after he was hit with a stun gun, and later lunged at the officer with a large knife.
The officer fired several times, and Giliberti was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting is under investigation.
Police say the only other witness to the shooting was the grandmother of the deceased man, who was also the one who placed the 911 calls.
