2 Arrested After Struggle with Officers

Two Philadelphia police officers suffered minor injuries after a struggle on the porch of a Port Richmond home

Two Philadelphia police officers were hurt during a struggle with two people on the porch of a home in Port Richmond.

NBC10's Katy Zachry talked with neighbors, who say two plain clothes officers stopped at a house on the 3200 block of H Street, and when the man out front refused to give them his name, they tried to take him to the station for questioning.

Cell phone video shows the man lunge at police. One of the officers then grabs the man, while a second officer punches him.

"We are justified in using our hands," says Lt. John O'Hanlon, East Detectives who defended the officer's actions. "We use aggression to fight aggression."

Police say the man's girlfriend ran out and hit one of the officers in the head with a glass vase.

Both officers suffered minor injuries.

The man and woman will be charged with assaulting police.
