Off-Duty Officer Hurt After Motorcycle, SUV Collide

An off-duty police officer is in the hospital after a motorcycle crash in Galloway Township.

Officials say Atlantic City Police Officer Frankely Paredes, 31, of Egg Harbor Township, was riding his motorcycle, a 2009 Suzuki Hayabusa 1300, Monday night eastbound on Route 30.

A 2000 Mercury Mountaineer was also traveling eastbound and the two vehicles struck in a head-on collision.

Paredes suffered a severe head injury and was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division. He was later moved from the Trauma Unit to Intensive Care and is currently in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Mountaineer was not hurt in the crash.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
