A Nor’Easter headed towards the Philadelphia region this Saturday has a Winter Storm Watch in effect for areas north and west of the city including the Poconos, the Lehigh Valley and Berks County, according to meteorologist Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz.
Snow could even fall in areas closer to the city with a burst of heavy snow possible, "Hurricane" said.
While uncommon, October snow in the region isn’t unprecedented as inches of snow have been recorded even in Philadelphia in past years.
The cool down began Thursday night as a Freeze Warning was in effect into Friday morning for some of the Pennsylvania suburbs including Berks, Bucks, Chester and Montgomery Counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain is expected to begin Friday night into Saturday throughout the area. In some areas it could change to snow.
Per the National Weather Service:
Saturday: Rain and snow likely before 11 a.m., then rain between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then rain and snow after 2 p.m. High near 42. North wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

It's still likely too early to figure how much wet snow, if any, will fall and in what exact areas.
Saturday should be a nasty, cold day with or without snow, "Hurricane" said.
