Occupy Movement Spreads to Doylestown

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

As demonstrations continue in Philadelphia, the Occupy Wall Street movement is spreading to another local location: Doylestown.

On Thursday, members of Occupy Doylestown will gather at the corner of State and Main Streets between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Organizers say the purpose of the rally is to โ€œdemonstrate solidarity with protesters at Occupy Wall Street in New York City, Occupy Philadelphia and others across the country.โ€

Members of Occupy Doylestown say they want โ€œa solution to the job crisis, corporate money out of politics, fairer tax rates for everyone and policies that work for 99% of Americans instead of the 1% at the top.โ€

As the Occupy Doylestown movement begins, Occupy Philadelphia will gather on Thursday at 17th and Market at 4 p.m. They will then march to Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomeyโ€™s office at 1628 JFK Boulevard. Members of Occupy Philly say the purpose of Thursdayโ€™s march and rally will be โ€œto show pictures of what predatory lending, unemployment, foreclosures and blighted communities look like.โ€
