Woman Bound, Raped in North Philly

Part of the attack was caught on surveillance video

Philadelphia Police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly raped and bound a young woman last week.

A 20-year-old woman was walking along the 2200 block of North Watts Street around 4 a.m. Thursday when an unknown man grabbed her from behind, pointed a gun at her and forced her into an alleyway behind the 2300 block of N Park Avenue, according to Philly Police’s Special Victims Unit.

Once in the alley, the alleged suspect bound the victim with pieces of clothing and sexually assaulted her, cops said.

The suspect -- described as a thin, 5-foot-7, medium-complexioned black male between 25 to 30 years old wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt -- then grabbed the woman’s purse and fled.

The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous, cops said.

Anyone with information -- or who recognizes the suspect from the police sketch – should contact police at 215-685-3251/3252.
