Residents Jump Out Window to Escape Montco House Fire

Three people were rushed to the hospital this morning after making harrowing escapes after fire broke out this in Montgomery County.

The blaze began around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in a row home along the 900 block of Yerkes Alley in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

Three people escaped the blaze by jumping from second-story windows, according to firefighters.

Norristown Fire Chief Tom O'Donnell said that three people suffered injuries -- one with a shoulder injury, one with a leg injury and one suffered smoke inhalation.

The cause of the blaze remained under investigation Monday morning and an arson dog was brought to the scene. Investigators said it appeared the blaze began on the first floor then spread quickly to the second floor.

The fire also damaged neighboring homes.

“Some of the homes adjoining that fire building suffered some smoke damage, some water damage as a result of the fire,” said O’Donnell.
