No Venue Change for Synagogue Firebombing Suspects

A judge has refused a change of venue request for two men accused in a series of firebomb attacks on synagogues across northern New Jersey.

The Record reports that lawyers for Aakash Dalal (ah-KAHSH' dah-LAHLZ') and Anthony Graziano argued in court Friday that the large amount of publicity their alleged crimes have garnered would bias jurors.

But state Superior Court Judge Edward Jerejian disagreed, finding there was ``no indication'' the jury pool has been tainted, or ``so tainted'' that the suspects couldn't get ``a fair and impartial jury.''

Dalal and Graziano have pleaded not guilty to aggravated arson, conspiracy and bias intimidation charges. Dalal also is accused of conspiring to kill the assistant prosecutor handling his case.

Prosecutors allege he helped plan the attacks that Graziano carried out.
