A grand jury investigation says that criminal charges aren't warranted against other administrators or employees of a central Pennsylvania public high school whose assistant principal was charged with having had a sexual relationship with an underage student.
The Centre Daily Times reports that the grand jury recommendations were released Friday afternoon at a press conference.
Authorities say 45-year-old Shawn Sharkey allegedly had at least 10 different sexual encounters between February and March 2013 with a then-16-year-old student.
Police say he would pick her up at home and take her to rented motel rooms. Court records show that Sharkey told police that he had had no inappropriate contact with her.
The grand jury was investigating whether other administrators were criminally negligent for not reporting the allegations earlier.
Sharkey was fired from the Susquehanna Township School District shortly after police charged him with sexual contact with a student, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor.
