No Bird, No Plane — That's a Rocket

NASA launching rocket from our backyard

If you saw a fire in the sky Tuesday night, don't panic…it wasn't a UFO.

The flying object was actually an Air Force rocket.

NASA launched several satellites into space including the Air Force Research Lab's Tac-Sat 3 from its facility in Wallops Island, Va. Wallops Island is only several miles from the Delaware border.

Officials in Montgomery County even issued a warning to residents about the launch in an effort to stem a flood of UFO calls.

Liftoff occured around 7:50 p.m., which was earlier than planned. The space agency originally said the rocket wouldn't take off until about 10 p.m.

Our cameras caught the rocket barreling through the atmosphere from the beaches of Cape May, N.J.

NASA also chronicled the launch from its pad in Virginia.
