Multimillion Dollar Bridge Project to Close Lanes Near Philadelphia Art Museum

A $6.6 million project to rehabilitate the Spring Garden Street bridges near the Philadelphia Art Museum will cause nighttime travel restrictions next week, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s announced Thursday.

PennDOT plans to close one lane in both the eastbound and westbound directions of Spring Garden Street between 31st Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway from Monday through Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

The project, which will restore the adjoining bridges that carry Spring Garden Street over the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76), Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, and the Schuylkill River, began last August. The project should finish in mid-September, according to PennDOT.
