Philly Attorney Sues Police After Her Arrest for Refusing to Talk During Traffic Stop

A Philadelphia woman who was arrested for refusing to answer questions during a traffic stop has sued the state police.

Rebecca Musarra filed the federal civil rights suit after the Oct. 16 incident in Warren County, NJ.com reports.

Musarra says in the suit that after she was pulled over, at least three troopers insisted she was committing a crime by refusing to answer questions.

State Police spokesman Capt. Stephen Jones says the department's internal affairs office reviews any incident in which misconduct is alleged. He says training or disciplinary measures are implemented when appropriate.

Musarra, an attorney from Philadelphia, remained silent after she was pulled over for suspected speeding. She was later cuffed and taken back to a police station.

She says a supervisor watched dashboard camera footage and let her go without charges.
