Law enforcement officials are looking into how a police officer may have accidentally discharged his department-issued firearm.
The Hunterdon County prosecutor's office in New Jersey says a member of the Flemington Borough Police Department sustained a non-life threatening injury after his duty weapon discharged accidentally.
Investigators say the officer was sitting in a police vehicle that was parked in a lot in Raritan Township around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday when the firearm discharged.
The officer, who police have not named, was transported to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition.
