Local Olympian Competes Monday

Set your DVRs or watch live. Kintersville native Chris Creveling is set to compete in the 1,500 meter short track speed skating event on Monday in Sochi.

The competition heats begin and air at 4:45 a.m. You may also watch the event live online here. The Men's 1500m short track finals begin at 7:05 a.m. Follow the short track events here.

Creveling, 27, is from Bucks County and began his Olympic journey in 2007. At Sochi, he’ll compete in the individual 1,000 meter and 1,500 meter races and the 5,000 meter relay.

Preparing for the Olympics takes time, dedication and fuel, as in the food one puts into one's body. One of Creveling's favorite foods is Pho, a Vietnamese soup. In addition, Creveling adopted a gluten-free diet. With years of dedication to the sport, he also has the mental preparation to carry him far.

Creveling grew up as an inline skater, and skated at the same rink as USA teammate Kyle Carr in Frenchtown. The two are traveling to Sochi together and hope to bring home the gold for the Delaware Valley.
