Officials say a Trenton firefighter was severely injured after he fell out of a fire engine while responding to a call in New Jersey's capital city.
NJ.com reports the unidentified firefighter was thrown from Engine 9 when the vehicle rounded a curve near Parkside Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Monday. It's unclear if he was wearing a seat belt at the time.
The firefighter was rushed to the trauma center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he's still being treated.
Details regarding the accident and the victim's injury haven't been immediately released. Officials say it appears that the man will make a full recovery.
Trenton fire officers union President Steve Coltre says Engine 9 utilizes a "closed cab" apparatus with doors that should securely lock.
The incident remains under investigation.
