New Jersey Doctor Forfeits License Amid Sex-Abuse Claims

Authorities say a New Jersey doctor accused of groping female patients and employees has suspended his practice.

State investigators say Alex Sarkodie, who is an internist and pediatrician in Paterson, has agreed to temporarily surrender his medical license and close his office while he waits for the hearing.

A hearing is scheduled next month with the state's doctor licensing and disciplinary body on malpractice and professional misconduct charges.

Acting Attorney General Robert Lougy says Sarkodie's behavior happened between May 2013 and March 2016.

Sarkodie declined to talk about the suspension on Monday.
