New Jersey Church Pastor Charged With Sex Assault

The suspect is pastor of Come Alive Church in Medford Township, Burlington County.

The pastor of a church in Burlington County, New Jersey, has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault for allegedly attacking four minors "over a lengthy period of time," law enforcement officials said Thursday.

The Rev. Harry L. Thomas, of Queens Lane, Medford, is pastor of Come Alive Church, also in Medford. The 74-year-old is being held at a medical facility, the county prosecutor's office said in a statement. The location was not identified, nor was the reason for his stay at the facility.

Thomas is charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault and four counts of endangering the welfare of children, according to the prosecutor's office.

The alleged assaults occurred in Medford between 1999 and 2015, the prosecutor's office said, which is asking that anyone who may have information relevant to the case call the county Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit at (609)265-5879 or the Medford Township police department at (609)654-7511.

An initial appearance date in Superior Court for Thomas has not yet been scheduled.
