Neighbors Save 4 People From Fire

The four people were trapped on the second floor of the building when two of their neighbors rushed to the scene with a mattress.

Four people, including a toddler, are in the hospital after a house fire in the Kingsessing section of the city.

It happened Thursday around 2:45 a.m. on the 2100 block of South Alden Street.

Two neighbors rushed to the scene where they found the four people, including a 2-year-old, trapped on the second floor of the home.

“We both got together, I dragged the mattress out of my house,” said David Rose. “The baby jumped first, she grabbed the baby. Then the grownups came. I told them to hang and jump and we’d catch them. And we did.”
