Nearly 100 Percent of Flights Canceled

Philadelphia International Airport says it expects "nearly 100 percent'' of flights Saturday to be canceled due to the winter storm.

Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says most airlines, including US Airways and US Airways Express, have ceased all operations for the day. She says officials expect "some very limited'' flight activity by some airlines later in the day.

The storm has prompted state and local officials to declare disaster emergencies as almost 30 inches of snow has made roads
impassable and cut power to about 180,000 customers in the western part of the state.

Lupica says crews have been battling blizzard and whiteout conditions to try to clear runways and other areas.
