Naked Woman Collapses, Dies of Stab Wound on Philadelphia Street

A naked woman covered in blood collapsed and died on a street corner in Philadelphia overnight, and police are searching for the person who they say attacked her.

Officers responded to the corner of Jasper and Letterly streets in Kensington about 11:20 p.m. for reports of a woman screaming, Capt. Robert Ritchie told NBC10. When they arrived, they found the woman lying naked on the sidewalk, dead of a stab wound to the right side of her neck, Ritchie said.

"She was bloody from head to toe," Ritchie said.

Medics pronounced the victim, whose name was not released but who police said was 35 years old, dead on the sidewalk.

Ritchie said that an initial investigation into the incident revealed that the woman was in a rear alley along Cumberland Street near Jasper when someone attacked her, driving a jagged object into her neck. The victim stumbled about a block to Letterly Street, where she collapsed.

The captain said investigators found about 10 surveillance cameras along the route they believe the victim took from the location where she was stabbed to where she fell. They were working on obtaining video from those cameras Sunday morning.

"We're going to hope that helps us in catching the person responsible for committing this act," Ritchie said.

Police have not said what they believe motivated the stabbing or whether they believe the victim was also sexually assaulted. No arrests have been made.
