NJ Teacher Suspended Over Child Endangerment Investigation

Child endangerment charges have been filed against a teacher accused of having an inappropriate online conversation with a 14-year-old male student.

Middlesex County prosecutors say 33-year-old Cara Conroy of South Brunswick was suspended without pay from her job as a special education teacher at North Brunswick High School following her arrest. She has taught in the district since September 2005.

Prosecutors said investigators learned that Conroy and the boy had chatted online Wednesday and discussed engaging in sexual activity with each other. The investigation began after the boy's mother contacted authorities.

Prosecutors said the teen was not a special education student, but did not disclose further details about him.

A telephone number for Conroy could not be located Sunday, and it was not known if she had retained an attorney.
