Crash Claims Life of NJ Soccer Star

A New Jersey high school soccer player lost his life in a car accident Thursday when he crashed his car into a truck in Vineland Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Nicholas Gazzara III received honors for his athletic achievements which include setting Sacred Heart High School's record with 42 goals this season as well as most career goals.

State Police say the 18-year-old lost control of his car while driving on Route 54 and collided with the truck head on.

Gazzara was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.

The driver of the truck is in stable condition.

Counselors will be available at the high school on Friday.
