No Evidence New Jersey College Baseball Players Tried to Injure Deer: Police

Police have found no evidence that members of a New Jersey college's baseball team injured or killed a deer on campus.

Police investigated a report that members of the Ramapo College baseball team were seen chasing deer with sticks outside the school's athletic center on March 24.

Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said surveillance video showed members of the team were running wind sprints when two deer were spotted near a wooded area.

The chief said a student who picked up sticks claimed he was at least 20 to 30 feet away and tried to scare the deer to prevent them from going into the street.

Other witnesses said a deer was chased, but was not harmed.

The chief said the school has disciplined students for violating rules regarding wildlife.
