NJ Man Charged with Killing Taxi Driver

Coleman was arrested on a murder charge on Monday night and bail is set at $500K.

A Camden man has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting a cab driver in Burlington City last month.

Officials say surveillance cameras at the Trenton Transit Center showed 22-year-old Carey Coleman Jr., get into Larry Hamilton's cab at about 1 a.m. on June 16.

Soon after that, police in Burlington City learned that the cab had crashed into a utility pole there. The 47-year-old Hamilton's body was inside, but the passenger was gone.

A passerby would later find him dead inside the cab at the intersection of Route 130 North and York Street in Burlington City at around 2 a.m.

Hamilton was a self-employed cab driver who leased his texi from the Yellow Cab of Trenton.
According to a fellow cab driver, Khalid Ahdasham, Hamilton was a father of four.

Authorities later determined the driver died after being shot in the head, and say the handgun used in the crime was found in the home of Coleman's girlfriend.

Coleman was arrested Monday night and bail was set at $500,000.

It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.
