State police say a man was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle while walking on the Garden State Parkway in northern New Jersey.
But it's still not clear why the 26-year-old Elizabeth man was in the southbound lane of the highway in Washington Township (Bergen County) when he was hit around 4:25 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his name has not been released.
The woman driving the SUV was not injured in the accident. Her name also wasn't released.
Citing the ongoing investigation, state police declined to release further details on the accident.
