A New Jersey couple has been charged with killing their one-month-old girl last summer.
Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato announced Tuesday that Giovanna and Michael Rojas of Toms River are charged with aggravated manslaughter and child endangerment in the death of their daughter.
Coronato says the girl, identified as J.R., was brought to the hospital on Aug. 27 and died several hours later. He says the cause of death was determined to be loss of blood and trauma to the chest and abdomen.
The defendants were arraigned Tuesday afternoon during a brief hearing in state Superior Court. Both are being held in lieu of cash bail: $200,000 for Giovanna Rojas and $250,000 for Michael Rojas.
