NJ Tries to Break Bubble-Blowing Record

Idea for world-wide bubble-blowing record started in Ventnor, N.J.

People all over the world Thursday tried to break into Guinness World Records for the most people simultaneously blowing bubbles at multiple locations, including Atlantic City and Margate, N.J.

It will be several weeks before organizers know if they surpassed the 34,529 who set the record at nearly 200 locations in England in 2007.

Whether or not they succeed, the publicity will help raise awareness of autism.

The idea started in the southern New Jersey town of Ventnor.

That's where Isabelle Mosca lives with her 11-year-old son, Kyle, who is autistic.

When he was in preschool, Kyle's mom wracked her brain trying to come up with activities that her son could share with his classmates. That's when she realized the boy loves blowing bubbles.

In New Jersey alone, people plan to blow bubbles in nearly 100 locations, including schools and Atlantic City casinos.
