15 Suffer Minor Injuries in 10-Car Crash on NJ Turnpike

About 15 people suffered minor injuries after 10 vehicles collided on the New Jersey Turnpike on Sunday night, state police said.

A limousine was among the vehicles that crashed between Roosevelt Avenue and Goethals Bridge, exits 12 and 13, sometime after 11 p.m.

One driver says traffic was backed up on the turnpike because of construction on the Goethals Bridge. He says he was behind a Mercedes when a limo plowed into it and other vehicles.

The Mercedes caught fire, and Janeic says a woman inside it suffered serious injuries. Police couldn't immediately confirm this.

The accident halted traffic in the inner, northbound lanes. A photo posted to Instagram showed people waiting outside of their cars as police responded.

The roadway was being cleared up shortly after 1:15 a.m. and traffic was moving.

It’s still unclear what caused the vehicles to crash.
