NBA Star Sued Over Fatal Shooting

Chester's Tyreke Evans is facing a lawsuit for a 2007 drive-by

Although he was never criminally charged, Chester native and Sacramento Kings rookie Tyreke Evans is facing a wrongful death lawsuit in relation to a Nov. 2007 drive-by.

The NBA star is among four people being sued over the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Marcus Reason in Chester Township.

According to legal action, Evans was the driver of the car from which his cousin, Jamar Evans, fired the shots killing Reason.

Jamar Evans pled guilty to third degree murder in 2009, no one else was charged.

Now, Reason’s family is seeking more than $50K in the suit filed in Delaware County from cousins Tyreke and Jamar as well as Rasheen Blackwell and Dwayne Davis.

Before Wednesday night’s game against the Hawks, Evans assured fans that he is staying focused on his game and letting his lawyer, Hayes Hunt, and his agent handle the suit.

He also said that the entire situation has been tough, but he’s learning from it and looking to move on.
