Motorcyclist Killed in DUI Crash: Police

A man is dead and another man is in prison after a fatal car crash in Chester County.

Police say 22-year-old Anthony Ortiz of Coatesville was driving a 99 Ford Mustang on Route 322 east of Romig Road in West Bradford Township on Friday around 7:45 p.m.

Ortiz was allegedly driving erratically westbound in the eastbound lane when he struck a motorcyclist head on. Police say the impact caused the Mustang to crash into a 2008 BMW.

The motorcycle rider, identified as 35-year-old Ian Mann of Downingtown, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the BMW, 28-year-old Ryan Scaffidi of Turnersville, was injured. Police also say Ortiz’s passenger, 35-year-old Tomas Sarafin-Alvride, was hurt In the crash.

Officials say Ortiz was driving under the influence at the time of the accident. He was arrested and charged with Homicide by Vehicle while DUI. He is currently being held in the Chester County Prison.
