A fatal motorcycle crash left one local man killed and another injured in New Castle on Monday night, according to police.
At approximately 10:10 p.m., police say 37-year-old, Anthony Brooks, Jr. and his 19-year-old passenger were traveling southbound on New Castle Ave, at a high speed. Brooks tried to make a left hand turn onto Lambson’s Lane, where he lost control of his 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle.
Both men were thrown off the bike. The motorcycle struck the curb and several concrete pillars. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene, police report.
Brooks did not have a helmet on at the time, however, the passenger did.
The passenger was treated at Christiana Hospital for his injuries. An autopsy will be conducted to determine Brooks’ cause of death.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit is considering speed and alcohol as the causes of the incident in the ongoing investigation.
