New Castle County Police have arrested Abbie Arms, 24, for endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities say Arms left her son in a car seat on the sidewalk in front of an abandoned residence on the 300 block of Glasgow Drive in Newark, Del.
Officers were called to the scene on Wednesday afternoon and say after a lengthy search they were able to locate Arms at a nearby home.
The mother told police she was sitting under a tree and received a phone call that there was going to be a fight in the area. Police say she became distracted and left the area without her son.
The baby was admitted to Christiana Medical Center for observation and is now in custody of the Division of Family Services.
Arms was released on $250 unsecured bail.
