A man charged in the stabbing deaths of an elderly Pennsylvania woman and her mentally disabled daughter is headed to trial after turning down a possible plea deal.
The Express-Times reported 29-year-old Brandin Kasick met with his attorneys privately Tuesday in Lehigh County Court to discuss a resolution in the case but apparently had second thoughts.
Judge Kelly Banach then scheduled his trial for Jan. 27.
Kasick is being held without bail on charges including criminal homicide, burglary, robbery and theft in connection with the March 2011 slayings of 82-year-old Althea Walbert and her 59-year-old daughter Jeannette in their Alburtis home.
Investigators claim Kasick killed the women and stole thousands of dollars from the home, where he had worked for a carpet cleaning company. Prosecutors say DNA links him to the violent deaths.
