Anyone who's ever read Robert McCloskey's children's book "Make Way For Ducklings" will recognize this story.
Around 11 a.m. Saturday, passersby in Upper Darby noticed a mother duck and her six ducklings stuck in a storm drain at the intersection of Lansdowne Avenue and Cedar Lane.
Police and firefighters were called to the scene and were able to extricate the duck and her brood after much exertion.
A happy ending, then, for all involved.
