Morgan's Pier Owner to Run Mobile Pop-Up Beer Gardens at 14 Parks

Philadelphia's Parks and Recreation Department ambitious plan to have a pop-up beer garden rotate through more than a dozen locations will be led by the owner of Morgan's Pier – reportedly the only party to submit a proposal for the job.

The city department and the Fairmount Park Conservancy will hand off operations of Parks on Tap to Avram Hornik, whose locally based FCM Hospitality includes Ortlieb's Lounge, Dolphin Tavern, Drinker's Tavern and others.

The city said Hornik submitted the only proposal despite initial interest from dozens of bar owners.

Even though there wasn't any competition, FCM Hospitality's experience running seasonal establishments – like Morgan's Pier and Winterfest, both on the Delaware Riverfront – make the Philadelphia-based company the ideal operator for Parks on Tap.
