Mom, Son Recovering After Alleged Murder-Suicide Attempt

A central Pennsylvania woman and her 2-year-old son have been hospitalized with stab wounds after what police are calling a murder-suicide attempt.

Police in Fairview Township, York County, say they believe 36-year-old Candis Bradshaw cut her son's neck then stabbed herself in the chest.

They were found by the family's housekeeper, who called police about 8:30 a.m. Friday. Bradshaw is married to the boy's father, who wasn't home at the time.

Acting police Chief Jason Loper says it "appears the child will be OK. It could have been much worse.'' Investigators are also hopeful Bradshaw will survive.

She and her son were flown to Hershey Medical Center, where officials would not release their conditions Saturday because the incident remains under investigation.

Bradshaw was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
