Mom Indicted for Giving Prescription Drugs to Daughter

The 17-year-old girl died from a drug overdose.

A Delaware woman has been indicted for giving her daughter prescription narcotics which led to her overdose, according to investigators.

Back on July 15, emergency crews responded to a report of an unresponsive teenager at a Milton home.

When they arrived, they found the body of a 17-year-old girl. Investigators say the girl died from overdosing on drugs originally prescribed to her mother, Leslie Laughlin, 46. Further investigation revealed that Laughlin provided the girl with several drugs, including Vicodin and Xanax, on multiple occasions, according to police.

Toxicology tests on the girl revealed the presence of drugs that police believe Laughlin provided to her daughter.

A December 5 indictment charged Laughlin with endangering the welfare of a child, delivery of a controlled substance, delivery of a non-controlled prescription drug and other related felonies.

Laughlin turned herself in to State Troopers on December 7. She was arraigned in Superior Court and released on $5,000 unsecured bail with pretrial supervision.
