Schizophrenic Missing Woman Found, Then Goes Missing Again

A woman with schizophrenia who went missing on Sunday and was found by police two days later is missing again after officials let her go, her family says.

Relatives of 34-year-old Jenny Paiva last saw her at her parents' home in Union, N.J., on Sunday.

She was wearing scrubs and was leaving for her job as a nurse's aide, but never made it there, her family says.

Police found her Tuesday on Long Island, where she had used her credit card at a restaurant.

She was wearing the same scrubs, her family said.

Officers determined she was OK and let her go, without having her checked out by a doctor, according to her family.

They haven't seen her since then, and they tell NBC 4 New York they are concerned she could hurt herself or someone else. They believe she may still be driving a gray 2012 Nissan Versa hatchback.

"It's freezing out, where is she? Is she warm, does she have a warm place to stay? I don't know," said a tearful Ivana Capra, Paiva's sister-in-law.

The family is asking anyone who has seen her to call the Union Police Department at 908-851-5000 or her family at 908-447-1052.

"I hope she comes home because everybody's waiting for her," said Paiva's mother, Celeste Paiva.
