Missing Teen Found

Brandon Eckert, 16, was found Sunday around midnight. Police say Eckert was dehydrated and hungry but was otherwise healthy.

A missing teenage boy was found safe on Sunday, according to police. Brandon Eckert, 16, went missing last Tuesday. He was last seen at a group home on the 700 block of King Road in West Whiteland Township.

The FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, MIRT, Chester County Detectives and the Pennsylvania Game Commission all joined the West Whiteland Township Police Department in the search for the teen.

On Sunday, around midnight, police say Eckert walked out of a wooded area where investigators were searching. Eckert walked to a nearby house and asked for assistance, according to investigators.

Eckert, who is diagnosed as mentally impaired and has other mental health disorders, was taken to the Paoli Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Investigators say the teen was dehydrated and hungry but was otherwise healthy.

Police say Eckert admitted to running away from his group home and had been hiding in the woods since that time.
