Missing Montgomery County Nurse Found Dead in Ohio River

The body of a Montgomery County man who was missing since mid-December has been found in the Ohio River last Friday.

Paul Kochu was last seen around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 16 -- walking two blocks away from his house near the South Side Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh.  On March 20, the 22-year-old man's body was found in the Ohio River.

His cause of death has not yet been determined, police told WPXI.

"God has answered our prayers. Our sweet and talented Paul will be coming home to us," a statement posted to the Find Paul Facebook page Friday read. "We thank God for answering our prayers. It is not an easy road ahead for us, but we know that God has greater plans for Paul."

The Pottstown native had started working at Allegheny General Hospital shortly after graduating from Duquesne University, according to family members.

Surveillance video showed an apparently injured Kochu on Dec. 16, causing confusion as to what happened to him in the time between when friends saw him leave the Smoking Joes bar and when he was seen staggering around outside.

“The problem is that there is two hours and forty six minutes that we know absolutely nothing about,” Jack Kochu said in January.

Family, friends and co-workers conducted search parties throughout the Pittsburgh region. Police also combed the area, using sonar devices on other nearby waterways in their search.
