Dog Found Burned, Emaciated in NJ Basement

Investigators rescued a young mixed breed dog Monday night from a Millville, N.J. basement where he was allegedly burned and abused by his owners.

The two to three-year-old dog was found extremely emaciated and with burns on his back that may have come from chemicals, investigators said.

The dog, “has obviously been nutritionally deprived since he was a puppy... He weighs 16-and-a-half pounds, he probably should be a 50-pound dog,” said Bev Greco of the Cumberland County SPCA.

Investigators are searching for the abusive owner and the dog will be put up for adoption after he recovers, the SPCA said.
