Men Rob 13-Year-Old of Meatball Sub, Leave Phone Behind

The boy used that cellphone to call police following the robbery.

Two men robbed a teen of his dinner while he was walking from a Yeadon deli on Saturday evening, according to police.

Police say that two men, Rashawn Ameer Mallory, 21, and Ernest Wellington Barnett, 22, armed with a revolver, hopped out of a Ford Expedition and approached a 13-year-old on Myra and Bonsall Avenues.

They demanded he stay still while they searched his pockets.

“If you do anything, I’ll cap you,” one of the men said, according to the criminal police complaint.

When the suspects didn’t find anything they wanted, they grabbed the meatball sandwich the boy had just purchased for $5.50 from a local deli and got back into the Expedition.

In their search, the suspects missed the teen’s cellphone. The same cellphone he used to call police and report the robbery, police say.

The SUV was stopped by authorities minutes later. Both Mallory and Barnett as well as two other men that were in the vehicle are charged in connection with the robbery.

All four men are being held in Delaware County Prison on $150,000 bail.  Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for Dec. 2.
